Terms of Service
Please read carefully. Using shuttleX means you agree to these provisions.
1. Acceptance of Terms#
By accessing and using shuttleX, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use our platform.
These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and shuttleX. Your continued use of the service confirms your ongoing acceptance of these terms.
2. User Responsibilities#
As a shuttleX user, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
- Maintain the security and confidentiality of your account credentials
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
- Be solely responsible for all activities under your account
- Comply with all applicable local, state, and national laws
- Treat all users, drivers, and staff with respect and courtesy
You must not use the service for any unlawful purpose or in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the platform.
3. Ride Booking & Capacity System#
Capacity-Based Booking: ShuttleX does not offer individual seat booking. You must book the entire ride capacity (6-10 people depending on vehicle).
- You pay for the full ride capacity when booking
- You can use all seats yourself or coordinate with others to fill seats
- Other riders pay you directly (not through the app) when joining your ride
- You must provide accurate pickup (Tanke/Oke-Odo or UNILORIN campus) and destination locations
- You agree to be ready at the specified pickup time
- You will treat the driver's vehicle with care and respect
- You will follow all safety instructions provided by the driver
Location Matching: Our system shows nearby riders (within 500m) heading the same direction. You can message them to coordinate ride-sharing.
ShuttleX reserves the right to deny service or terminate accounts that violate these guidelines.
4. Payment Terms#
ShuttleX uses capacity-based booking. You pay for the full ride (6-10 person capacity) upfront, not individual seats.
- Payment methods: Card payments and bank transfers via secure payment gateway
- All prices are in Nigerian Naira (NGN)
- You pay for the entire ride capacity when booking
- Other riders who join pay you directly (not through the app)
- Payment is processed immediately upon booking confirmation
- Failed payments may result in account suspension until resolved
For drivers, earnings are calculated based on distance, time, and ride capacity. Payouts are processed daily to your bank account for maintenance purposes.
5. Cancellation Policy#
IMPORTANT: ShuttleX has a strict 5-minute cancellation window:
- Within 5 minutes: You can cancel and receive a full refund ONLY within 5 minutes of the driver accepting your ride request
- After 5 minutes: Cancellations are NOT allowed. No refunds will be issued
- Fraud Protection: No refunds are given for any fraudulent activities or misuse of the platform
- Driver cancellations: If the driver cancels, you receive a full refund regardless of timing
This policy ensures fairness to drivers who have committed to your ride and prevents last-minute disruptions.
Excessive cancellation attempts may result in account review or restrictions. Plan your rides carefully before booking.
6. Limitation of Liability#
shuttleX acts as a technology platform connecting riders with drivers. While we strive to ensure safety and quality:
- shuttleX is not liable for actions, behavior, or negligence of drivers or riders
- We are not responsible for personal injury, property damage, or loss during rides
- Users assume responsibility for their personal safety and belongings
- Our maximum liability is limited to the amount paid for the specific ride in question
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
All drivers undergo verification, but users are encouraged to exercise caution and report any safety concerns immediately.
7. Driver-Specific Terms#
Drivers using the shuttleX platform must:
- Maintain valid driver's license and vehicle documentation
- Ensure vehicle meets safety and cleanliness standards
- Complete the driver verification process before accepting rides
- Maintain appropriate insurance coverage
- Comply with all traffic laws and regulations
- Provide professional and courteous service
- Accept ride requests fairly without discrimination
Driver earnings, payout schedules, and commission rates are outlined in the separate Driver Agreement.
8. Account Termination#
shuttleX reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that:
- Violate these Terms of Service
- Engage in fraudulent or illegal activities
- Demonstrate abusive or threatening behavior
- Provide false or misleading information
- Fail to pay outstanding balances
Users may close their accounts at any time through account settings. Upon termination, all outstanding balances must be settled.
9. Modifications to Terms#
shuttleX reserves the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to the platform.
Significant changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Your continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
We encourage you to review these terms periodically to stay informed of any updates.
10. Dispute Resolution#
In the event of a dispute:
- Contact shuttleX support first to attempt resolution
- Disputes that cannot be resolved through support will be subject to mediation
- Legal proceedings, if necessary, will be governed by the laws of Nigeria
- You agree to resolve disputes individually, not as part of a class action
